Silicon Nitride Ceramic is a dark grey ceramic having almost no porosity. It is a very hard but lightweight material with very good wear and abrasion resistance. It can withstand very high temperatures and maintains good hardness and strength above 1000oC. It has very good thermal shock resistance due to the low thermal expansion. Silicon Nitride can be used as an electrical insulator. It has excellent chemical resistance.
