Sinteredbronze - Materials - Technical Information - Hobby and Engineering
Sintered BronzeSimilar Grades MBA Products made from this material Sintered bronze is a general reference to a material which is made from powdered bronze and through a heating process the powdered bronze is bonded to form various items. The sintered bronze items stocked by MBA are primarily bearing related, but sintered bronze (and other sintered metals) can be used to manufature all kinds of mechanical components. Whilst there are many grades of sintered bronze, the main grade used in MBA bushes is SAE841 which has a copper content of 87.5-90.5% and max 1% iron, max 1.75% carbon, 9.5-10.5% tin and a maximum of 0.5% other elements. Sintered bronze is porous allowing oil to soak through it. Sintered bronze bushes are therefore very low maintenance items due to their ability to self lubricate until the charge of oil runs out.
