Zro2 - Materials - Technical Information - Hobby and Engineering
Zirconia (ZrO2)MBA Products made from this material Zirconia offers chemical and corrosion inertness to temperatures well above the melting point of aluminium oxide. Zirconia has low thermal conductivity. It is electrically conductive above 600oC. Bearings made from Zirconia can be run at extreme temperatures, even higher than that of Silicon Nitride, however the PTFE cage must be removed if temperature will exceed the max temperature for PTFE. Zirconia bearings are only for slow speed applications, but will handle temperature and chemical resistance better than Silicon Nitride. They run smoothly without lubrication, which means nearly no maintenance is required. Full ceramic bearings are used in chemical, metallurgical, food, electronic and other industries.
Products made with Zirconia can be found in the MBA online catalogue. Log in and start browsing the HES Online Store. |
