Balls - Technical
People often refer to balls as "ball bearings". This is incorrect. A ball is just a ball. Ball bearings contain balls just as roller bearings contain rollers. Balls and rollers are known as the "rolling elements" of a bearing.
Balls are used in many applications other than bearings. Some examples include valves, floating covers, decoration, ball transfers and the retractable ends in ball plungers. SPB provides balls in many materials including steels, plastics and ceramics. Ball material and precision should be selected in accordance with the requirements of the project at hand - see the links to the tables below.
Please be sure of the ball size you are ordering. The smallest balls in our range are barely visible with the naked eye, and may appear to be nothing more than specks of dust, or even non existent. For some materials, a small quantity of the smallest balls may look like just an empty bag. It is amazing how often we have customers telling us that we have sent them an empty bag when they receive delivery of the smallest balls.
